DIY Friday: Apartment Edition

Happy Friday, friends!! I am so happy to be home. New York was amazingly fun, and we saw a LOT of really awesome things, plus we got to hang out with Nick's bff, Max. You can expect a post about this later today complete with plenty of pictures :)

This week's DIY is MORE frames, mostly. I am obsessed, I think? Kim and I have one in the works as we speak, actually. I bought a pretty awesome, ornate, gold mirror at the thrift store a couple of weeks ago that we plan on taping off and painting an awesome teal/red/bright color and hanging in our living room.

These are some more ideas that I found this week:

1. Fabric covered styrofoam squares. This seems so easy and... duh? Why wouldn't
I do this? I'd like it in some brighter colors since we have white walls, but I am pretty
sure we could find some sweet fabric.

2. This just seems obvious to me. Unfortunately, I don't have one of these hooks in my apartment,
but I am tempted to install one just for this purpose.

3. I feel like I couldn't pull this off as well as this picture, but
I think it looks really feminine and pretty.

4. Again, with the frames. I just love this look. I wish my room were big enough for a dresser!!

OMG. That last one reminded me that I still have not done a tour of my apartment on the blog!
I promise to get this done soon! It's not much to look at though, honestly. ;)

Happy Friday! <3

Farewell!

I'll be leaving (on a jet plane) tomorrow morning for NYC. I can't wait!
I promise to take lots of pictures (especially of the HP Exhibition).

I'm going to miss home (mostly the puppies) but I know we're gonna
have lots of fun :)

As of late...

1. I have been addicted to The Hills. Since it's on Netflix streaming, it's so easy to spend too much time watching it. I watched it when it was on TV in high school, but watching it again is so hilarious. Now that I'm older and have a different perspective on things like that... I used to be all "OMG Heidi is SO ridic. I HATE Spencer!!" Now I just laugh. HA. It's so funny. It's probably killing my brain cells, but it's like a car wreck that I can't look away from.

2. We finally got Ella a cute pink harness and leash. I'm not sure why this is notable, but I get overly excited about abnormal things. Such as a leash and harness. So cute. Since she was using Guillermo's old back leash and harness, she looked like a boy whenever we took walks. Now she looks like a girl :)

3. Harry Potter was absolutely amazing. There were VERY few things that strayed from the book, and the things that did were so insignificant (for me) that it hardly mattered. I love that this movie/second half of the book was less centered around the characters and their personal journeys and more on the bettering of the wizarding world. I won't lie, I cried (real, bawling tears) through the entire second half of the movie. I won't give anything away, but you should know that every battle scene is absolutely epic. You will NOT be disappointed. I can't wait to see it again (next weekend). Also, if you can, see it in 3D, it is SO MUCH BETTER.

4. I haven't really talked much about this on the blog, mainly because I've hardly had any time to even think about it, but next week is our trip to NYC!! Originally, this was supposed to be a family trip that included my mom, dad, little brother, and little sister. But due to my parents having to get their house painted, they are sending only Nick and I. Which is amazing. I love them. Anyhow, the other day, I bought our Harry Potter Exhibition tickets, and I CANNOT WAIT. It's going to be so fun to spend money on ridiculous souvenirs from it, but that's what vacations are for, right? Right :) We are also getting to spend the two days with Nick's best friend who moved to Brooklyn, and I can't wait! I miss him! It's going to be fun to get to see NYC through the eyes of someone who lives there. I've been there only a few times, but enough to see all the touristy stuff. Any suggestions about what we should check out during our time there?

5. It's my birthday in a couple of weeks, and I am planning something small, but fun :) Can't wait!!

That is all :) Happy Sunday!

DIY Friday: Apartment Edition

This week I chose four of my favorite wall hanging ideas that I found via Pinterest (by the way, if there are any of you who still want an invite, let me know!)

 1. Painted coffee can cubbies. This would also be awesome in the classroom, but I think
I might choose different colors. This is too red/white/blue for me. Maybe more jewel tones?

2. I have SO MANY old keys. Old apartment keys, house keys, random keys
that just look really interesting. I think it would be neat to put a spin on this and make
up some really clever labels.

3. Right when Kim and I moved in, we talked about getting an S & K to hang up somewhere,
and these would be perfect kitchen decorations. And what a great excuse for wine ;)

4. I love gallery/collage style artwork areas. They are so fun and original/kitschy. This would be
a good excuse to order some super fun prints off of Etsy!

Do you guys have any fun DIYs you think I might like? Let me know!
Happy Friday!

Happy Harry Potter Night :)

[stolen from SingsTheMagpie Blog, with love; no source]

Tonight, Nick and his sister and her husband and I are all meeting up to see the premiere of the final Harry Potter movie. All I have to say is that I cannot wait to see it, and that I am devoting the better part of tomorrow to recovery from it. I hope you are able to partake in the amazingness if you're an HP fan!!

P.s. Comments for the giveaway are closed! The winner will be posted tomorrow! :)
