Harry Potter Challenge v.4

Day 4 - Your least favorite female character and why.

Definitely, without a doubt, my least favorite female character is Narcissa Malfoy. She's spineless. That's the only reason I have!

Who is your least favorite female character from the series?

Guest Post: DIY Wrapping

Hey, everyone! My awesome friend, Leah, asked me to do a guest post about my Christmas wrapping over at her blog, leahmariev. Go check it out here!

Most Recent Obsession: Hunger Games

I'm a little late to the party, I know. Let's just get that out of the way. I was assigned to read the first book in the trilogy in a YA Lit class I took for my degree TWO years ago. Did I read it? No. Do I regret it? Yes. It's amazing. I read the first book last week in about four days, which is really saying something because I haven't had time to read a book all the way through since last May.

Needless to say, I am beyond excited to see the movie when it comes out on March 23. I have already have plans with my lovely friend Chelsea to see the premier together. I cannot wait. Have you seen the trailer?? You need to.

Happy Monday!! <3

Harry Potter Challenge v.3

Day 3 - The film that made you the angriest because it ignored important parts of the book.

Without a doubt, my answer for this week's prompt is Goblet of Fire. While it's one of the best books in the series, the movie was terrible for me. I thought that they changed so many needless things that many people who haven't read the book would never had noticed if they didn't change. I was definitely angry when I watched this movie for the first time.

What do you think? Which of the 8 movies made you the angriest?

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday! <3

DIY:Apartment Edition

First of all, I'm sorry these pictures are all different sizes. Ha. These are the cutest apartment DIYs I cam across this week!

1. Christmas tree made out of books. I plan on doing this in my classroom next year for sure.

2. Thermostat cover - so pretty. I don't actually have a thermostat, but I'm
sure hanging something directly on the wall and putting a ornate white frame
around it would be just as pretty!

3. Windows, again. Of course!

4. Never lose another bobby pin. Done and done.

5. DIY lanterns. This would be so pretty for outside or just to set the mood for a party!

2nd Annual Cold Hands, Warm Hearts!

If you guys haven't heard of Cold Hands, Warm Hearts (put together by the lovely Sandy and Ilene) you really should check it out. It's become one of the highlights of my christmas season! This year, I was paired up with Krysten from Why Girls Are Weird. We have become very quick friends and have so much in common... I think I owe Ilene and Sandy a huge thank you for being such good friend matchmakers!!

Anyways, here's what Krysten sent me! <3 <3

First of all, we ended up sending each other the exact same candle in different scents. That's how you KNOW we were meant to be friends. Also, if you want to know the truth, I (with the help of my roommate) scarfed that bag of Godiva truffles before I could take these pictures. Which means that bag is actually empty. I'm not ashamed. I loved everything she got me!! <3

Christmas Wish List

We all have that little bit of materialism in us, am I right? While I wish for nothing but happy, healthy family members and puppies, there are always a few things I'm really pining over this Christmas. If nothing else, it's nice to have a running Amazon wish list....

1. Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs
2. Vera laundry tote in Mocha Rouge
3. The Psychology of Harry Potter (me = nerd)
4. Jonathan Adler iPhone 4 case (so pretty)
5. Is Everyone Handing Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling
6. Charlie Brown Holiday Collection on DVD
7. Russian Nesting Dolls sticker book
8. A bookshelf!

What are you wishing for this Christmas?

Harry Potter Challenge v.2

Day 2 - Your favorite of the 7 movies.

My favorite of the 7 movies is definitely Half-Blood Prince. It is the first movie in the series that I thoroughly enjoyed and was only very slightly critical of (as any true "the-book-is-better" fan would be). I could go on and on about what was horribly wrong with the other movies, but we'll save that for another post.

Also, I promise to try to get some semblance of a regular post going on over at this blog. My life has been literally CRAZY lately. More on that another time.

Happy Sunday/Monday, folks!

Harry Potter Challenge v.1

If you know Krysten over at Why Girls Are Weird, you will know that she began a 30 day Harry Potter challenge on Sunday. If you know me (which you do), you will know that I am obsessed with HP. How could I not ask her to get in on that shiz? I couldn't not. That's how.

Krysten and I were paired up in the Cold Hands, Warm Hears swap this year, and it turns out we have a ton in common! Anyways, she gave me the link yesterday and we are excited to see how similar our posts are! From now on, I'll be posting these on Sundays just like Krysten (as not to be influenced by her posts) and here is day one....

Day 1 - Your favorite of the seven books. It just so happens that Krysten and I have the same favorite book. Why is GoF my favorite? Because it's the first book in the series in which things really start to unfold. The story takes on so many new layers in this book, and you really start to understand the heaviness of Harry's journey. I'll stop me analysis there for you all ;)

If I had to choose a second, it would definitely be the Half-Blood Prince. Definitely.

Happy Monday! <3
