Juice fast!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! This week, I have been heavily considering embarking on my first juice fast. I have been reading up a lot on the healing properties of juice as a cleansing mechanism, and I can't wait to try it out. Thinking about healthier eating has prompted me to think about the toxins that go into my body even from more accepted processed foods like cheese and granola.

I have to first invest in a blender, and then splurge on some great ingredients. I have found a few recipes that I really want to try:

Healing Juice

Ingredients:
3-4 Carrots
125g Fresh Spinach
Handful of Flat Leaf Parsley
2-3 Sticks of Celery
Water

Skin Cleanse

Ingredients:
1 Cucumber with skin
1/2 bunch Fresh Parsley
1 4-oz. tub Alfalfa Sprouts
4 Sprigs Fresh Mint
Water

Ginger/Lemon Cleanse

Ingredients:
1-inch slice Fresh Ginger Root
1 Fresh Lemon
6 Carrots with tops
Apple
Water

I have questions for those of you who have tried this!

1. How long do you usually fast?
2. Do you have some great recipes to share?
3. What were your results? Were you happy you tried it?

Happy Wednesday! <3

  2. dont' you remember when your SISTER did a juice fast??
    I've actually done several.
I've never heard of a juice fast using a blender, though.
Most require a juicer - which is neat because you can save the veggie pulp for fun recipes and raw breads!
I try not to set a length for my fasts - I personally tend to sabotage myself that way! I am for *AT LEAST* 72 hours, but mine typically last 5 days to a week.
it's a wonderful beautiful feeling, for real.
I've got a plethora of yum recipes. I'll share them with you next time I see you :)

  3. Ilene - I will for sure let you know :)

Lynz - I would love to get recipes from you! I think Nick is going to try it, too, since he's having kidney problems... :-\

  5. I totally want to hear how this goes, if you do it. I really wanted to invest in a juicer because we got back from Kenya and Ethiopia and spent our days drinking the freshest squeezed juices ever, but Evan said you have to have a TON of fruit to even make a glass. And that would get expensive. But to do it for a week or two to cleanse wouldn't be that bad.

So I definitely want to hear how it goes. And maybe I'd even join in =] Support is always good!
