Fur Baby

Readers,

I had such a fun post planned for today, but it turns out today is not so great. A couple of months ago, we took Guillermo to the vet to check out a limp that randomly started on his back right leg. They took an x ray, told us it was a sprain, and sent us home with some medicine. We took him back two weeks later because it had only gotten worse. They said it was still a sprain and we weren't doing enough to keep him off of it.

Last night, my best friend brought her puppy, Penny, over to play with Guillermo and they had so much fun. Afterwards, Guillermo was limping a LOT. So, today I took him to another doctor for a second opinion about his leg. It turns out he has Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease, and has to have surgery in two and a half weeks.

Right now, he is laying on my lap lethargic from pain medicine that they had to give him to examine his leg and take an xray. He can't really control his bodily functions right now and he seems so sad :( Please pray for us and send us good thoughts. We need it.

Love,
Stephanie, Nick, and Guillermo <3

  3. Oh no! I'm so sorry =[ I hope your baby is okay and starts to feel better. I would be so frustrated at that first doctor for misdiagnosing the problem. I'll send prayers your way.

  7. Thank you EVERYONE for your kind words! Guillermo is coming out of his little medicated coma and is looking a little better. Tomorrow he will probably be back to his normal self. Keep your fingers crossed that the surgery goes well... <3 xoxo

  8. Oh my goodness! I'm sorry. =[

When Luca was still a puppy, she had a really really bad limp randomly one day. She wouldn't walk on her back left foot. I took her to the vet and they said she fractured the bone underneath her knee. Possibly from jumping off of the couch/bed or something. They gave her pain meds and said it would heal up since she was still so young. To this day, she still limps every now and then, but never seems to be in pain, so I never took her back to the vet.

However, the way I felt when my little baby seemed to be in soo much pain was terrible. I hope Guillermo's surgery is a success and he recovers soon!

  9. Steph I'm so sad to hear this. But he's such an energetic little tyke usually, I know he'll pull through and be himself again in no time. I'll be thinking of you and little G and I hope all goes well!
