So. Sex and the City. First of all, my lovely friend Niki took me out to see it at the Danbarry Dollar Saver theatre. That being said, and thinking only of the movie itself, minus the numerous shots with boom mikes and screens and random people’s arms and other such ridiculousness, it was fantastic. Of course, I would love to see it again without all of the distraction (read: smelly theatre, weird, off center screen, random scrolling numbers and other business appearing on occasion) and really pay attention to the movie. Such a guilty pleasure should not be muddled with so many random things! I wouldn’t give it an A+, especially not compared to the actual show, or even the first movie, but considering all the stinky things I heard about it, I quite enjoyed it.
I will admit, though, that it has prompted me to do a bit of research about where the Danbarry Dollar Saver gets their films….
In other news, I have made a new friend! Danielle Hampton, over at Sometimes Sweet has agreed to send me a few syllabi and teaching documents to help out with the impending student teaching (which reminds me, only 3 more days of summer. Sad face!) Danielle’s blog is so much fun, and I encourage my (hopefully eventual) readers to check her out by clicking here! She is so sweet and helpful and is sending me over some info on an idea she posted about a while back about book clubs for the kids in her classroom. I remember being really interested, but of course too chicken to actually ask about it. If you get into her blog, beware, she has LOTS of readers. But don’t get discouraged! She’s great. I can tell already!
I popped into work today to return some movies I rented, and while I was there, I picked up the first season of Hung.
It’s an HBO series that I have been hearing about lately and I want to check it out. I’m planning on watching an episode or two in the next few days, so I’ll get back about how it turns out.
In other news, Nick and I have been addicted (interesting choice of words if I do say so myself) to Breaking Bad.
It’s a show set in New Mexico about a chemistry teacher, Mr. White, with lung cancer who enlists the help of a former student, Jesse, to combine his access to various chemistry supplies and Jesse’s street knowledge to take over the meth scene in their town. We’re about to start watching season three, and I am really excited!
Okay, maybe now it's time for bed. Good night!
