Reds game and other news!

I am really dreading this week at school, even though last week ended on a great note. We are reading Swallowing Stones in all of the bells except advanced. Since there's only a class copy of this book, we read out loud. Every. Day. It can be one of the most daunting tasks in the classroom, and in my opinion, not the best use of time in the world. I realize that most kids won't read the book on their own if they are given the assignment for homework, but I feel that the anthology style textbook is the solution to this problem. Reading an entire novel in class, especially when there are certain classes that only about 6 people show up to, can be incredibly tiring and tedious. Not to mention, those kids that show up? They hardly ever want to read in front of other people. I plan on introducing vocab to the regimen this week, if not to improve the kids' speaking and reading skills, then at least to break up the in class reading. I hope the kids enjoy it, and since the only thing they will have to worry about outside of class is studying for the weekly quiz (definitions and sentences in class) I think it should work out okay. In all honesty, our class requires very little of these kids, and that is part of the reason they can be so unruly. I am looking forward to introducing a little bit more structure to the kids.

I am hoping that this week goes pretty fast. Once this week is over, only 10 weeks to go! I am so excited to  finish up with school, FINALLY. I am still debating whether or not I will want to finish out the year in order to put of paying for student loans a little bit longer, or if I should just go ahead an graduate. Any suggestions?

Today's Reds game was SOFUN! Our tickets were in the highest possible section of the stadium, but as you will be able to tell from the pictures, we had a fantastic view. Considering I haven't been to a game since adolescence, this was the perfect game to be reintroduced to since the Reds won! They are heading into the playoffs, and now I am a little excited (unusual for me) to see what happens next! Excuse the quality of these pictures; I forgot my camera at home, so I had to use my phone.

It was so cold outside, and we had to huddle together to stay warm, but we had so much fun, today. Lynzie and Brandon brought Pixie over to hang out with Guillermo while we were gone, and they had lots of fun :) Now, we are regaining circulation in our cold appendages while cuddling with Guillermo and watching some Law and Order on Netflix. Then we're headed to my parents' house for family dinner, and then HOPEFULLY we will get to watch Dexter! (eee!!)

Stop back tomorrow to read my first weekly "Sunday Dinner" post to find out how tonight went, and then Tuesday marks the very first "Bloggin' Ladies" post! I can't wait to share with you one of my most favorite and inspirational bloggers.
