Bloggin' Ladies: Blackbird Fly!

Hey guys! Here is my second Bloggin' Ladies post, Morgan from Blackbird Fly! Enjoy :)

Name: Morgan
Age: 22

What is something interesting about you? –Oh lord, I feel so pretentious trying to come up with interesting things about myself. Instead I think I will just list some random facts. I am mostly Irish and part Native American. I was born two months early and almost didn’t make it. I have been riding horses since I could hold myself up on top of a horse (4 years old). I love looking at and creating art, specifically oil and acrylic paintings. I love vintage clothes and shopping at antique malls. I have an affinity for funky old jewelry. I love old-school blues from Blind Willie McTell and Allen Shaw. I adore my family and friends.

Why did you begin blogging? I have to be honest when I say that I really didn’t know much about blogging when I started (as is obvious when you look back at my early posts). But that is what I love about blogging; it is such a learning process and there are so many great bloggers out there that are willing to help because they we once in your shoes. I began blogging because I have a hard time sitting down every night and writing in a journal. I am such a visual person so I loved the idea of being able add images and music to my thoughts and feelings. Only later did I realize how great the blogging world can be when it comes to meeting other lovely bloggers.

How long have you been blogging? I have been blogging for a year now. My Blogiversary is on October 8th! Woot!

Who is your inspiration for writing? – I wouldn’t say that there is a particular “who” that inspires me to write. I find inspiration everywhere around me. I really make an effort to appreciate the little things that everyone else seems to miss. It has become like a little joke with myself when I see people walking down the street, too busy to notice the sparrows jumping in puddles or a vine growing through the cracks in the cement. It has become like my own little secret. But at the same time, this blog has become my space to share my little inspirations with people. So the little things in life are what inspire me to write.

Where do you get your ideas? I try and create a good mixture of personal posts as well as finds from other blogs. I try and take my camera everywhere with me because you never know what you might run into. I also have tons of my favorite blogs bookmarked so that I can get ideas elsewhere. I also have a “sticky” on my Mac where I keep ideas that pop into my head for blog posts. Sometimes I will find myself zoning out in class and an idea for a post comes to mind, so I make sure I keep track of those as well.

Do you have any advice that you want to share with fellow lady bloggers? I would just say don’t be afraid to network because that is one fo the best ways to spread your blog and meeting some amazing women. Also, it is super refreshing when other bigger bloggers out there lend a helping hand to smaller bloggers. So I would say that helping other bloggers is always a positive. Finally, I would like to add that when I talk to others who do not blog about my blog, they always say “I am so boring, I would never have anything to talk about.” But that is the wonderful thing about blogging. It encourages you to think creatively, look for inspiration everywhere around you and adventure out into new experiences. Blogging has been such a great creative outlet for me.

What is one thing you are looking forward to most in your future (blog or otherwise)?
In regards to my blog, I am just looking forward to increasing my followers, and increasing my network of lovely fellow bloggers out there. I have received such great support from some amazing women out there, so I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. This whole blog thing is kind of bizarre in a way but at the same time, I would never have been able to meet many of the wonderful people I have met through this little blogging world.

Thanks, Morgan! I hope everyone checks out Blackbird Fly asap! <3

Tuesday features, dents, and reads :)

Ladies and Gentlemen, my lovely friend, Morgan featured me on her Tea Time Tuesdays post over at BlackbirdFly. :) Please, go check me out! You can click here, here, or here! Thanks, Morgan, you’re the best :).

I think since Morgan is doing it, I might have to do something like that also, but if any of you have an idea of a nifty name for this fun feature, let me know!

I kinda had a rough morning! My brother was playing basketball in the driveway when I got home last night, so I had to park really awkwardly. That accompanied by the fact that I was still sleeping (practically) when I got into my car to go to school, today led to my backing into a tree in our driveway on the way out. The wheel well is dented; and other than feeling like a complete idiot, everything is fine. But, needless to say, it didn’t help my mood any!

Today was a pretty lazy day at school; I mostly graded papers and made some quizzes and study guides for the coming week. The students who are reading The Catcher in the Rye had to do a stream of consciousness journal entry today. It was so hard for them to understand! Somehow, writing about whatever you want is a little overwhelming to some kids :).

**Just wanted to point out that in this picture of me at school, there are a list of detentions on the board behind me. I know it's hard to read backwards (thank you, photobooth) but one of my lovely kids wrote "Ms. Zella Boss" underneath. For some reason, that's why my AA kids have taken to calling me, in a really deep voice. Sillies! I thought everyone would like a little laugh out of that. :)

I have to work tonight, 7-12. I am SO not looking forward to this. Days that I have to work after school are completely exhausting! Even though this is the place that is actually paying me for my time, it is extremely hard to go in there with a positive attitude after spending my entire day at school, which is exhausting itself! I hate thinking this way, but luckily there are only 13 weeks of student teaching left. I can’t wait to be licensed and paid for this. It’s going to be great.

After school today, I have OGT tutoring until 3:30. Then I plan on going home to take a nap with my little puppy before work. It seems like if I don’t take a nap these days, my day is so much worse! It’s amazing how much a little sleep can help.

Unfortunately, lately, I have had no energy to even read. I have been wanting to do a book post for a while, now, but since I am so slow at reading this same book I have been for a month, I have really nothing new to say! If it weren’t for my kindle, I would probably have no desire to read whatsoever, so I am really happy that I have it.

Anyways, that’s all I have for today! Don’t forget to check me out at Morgan’s blog, here! And don’t forget to hit the follow button at the top left before you go! (If you’re a little apprehensive, don’t worry! It doesn’t send you emails or updates or anything like that. It’s only there to let me know you’re stopping by!)

xoxo
